Following the creation of the National Agency for Mining and Mineral Resources in Mauritania in 2020, Decree No. 065-2020, which established the Agency’s organizational and operational rules, defined a set of 32 corridors spread across nine of the country’s provinces as authorized areas for artisanal and semi-industrial mining activities.
These corridors were the subject of a technical study conducted by the National Agency for Geological Research and Mining Heritage, as part of a delegation agreement.
This study enabled the creation of a precise database on the potential and geological characteristics of these corridors.
